Mentoring is widely recognised as one of the most worthwhile and satisfying ways in which more experienced people can help the younger or less experienced.
Not only does the mentee gain invaluable insights and knowledge, mentors also find it highly personally rewarding to help someone else make good decisions about their professional development.
Now University of Sydney alumni have the opportunity to become online mentors to University students, through our online mentoring program.
No previous mentoring experience is needed, simply a desire to help a student, and the amount of time you will need to spend will be decided mutually between you and the student — normally about an hour a week for as few or as many weeks as suits.
This process is intended to focus on career development, and will complement any academic mentoring students receive from tutors and lecturers.
We need significant numbers of alumni to register as mentors to meet student demand, so please register now. It is a wonderful way of giving back to the University and society as a whole.
