Graduate Senate election results 2009

Dr Barry Catchlove, Peter FitzSimons, Jane Spring and David Turner have been elected, and Dr Michael Copeman has been re-elected, as Fellows of Senate by and from the graduates of the University.

Sydney improves in world rankings

The University of Sydney has increased its position in the prestigious Times Higher Education world rankings, moving up one position to be ranked 36 amongst the world's top 200 universities and equal second in Australia.

Canberra Alumni Association Launched

Almost 300 alumni and friends of the University of Sydney gathered on Wednesday 11 March at the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra. The gala Alumni Reception was hosted by the Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Dr Michael Spence, and marked the launch of the University of Sydney Canberra Alumni Association.

Sydney University alumnus, ABC broadcaster and best-selling author Richard Glover (BA '83) is one of the contributing writers of Breast Wishes – An Uplifting Musical, a new Australian musical celebrating its world premier at the Seymour Centre from 16 April – 2 May.

Michael Kirby on life, law and the University

It was to a packed Great Hall dinner that the recently retired Justice Michael Kirby began with a smile and the remark that, "as has been advertised, this is going to be a conversation but you don't get your word in until I get mine."
